Introduce yourself!
Hi! I’m Whitney Rich. I spent my early childhood in California, lived in Indonesia for 7 years, moved to Texas when I was in high school, and spent most of my summers in Canada (where my parents are originally from). I met my husband Andy at work and we’ve been married for 6 years.
Where were you born?
Bakersfield, CA
Where do you call home?
We moved to the Woodlands 6 years ago and I now call the Woodlands home. This is where both my kids were born and we are making memories and building a community here.
Introduce your kiddos!
Matilda is 4 and loves stroller strides and even plays it at home sometimes. She is strong-willed, observant, and loves fiercely.
Mathias (Matty) is 2 and he is very easy-going. He loves food, trucks, playing outside, and doing anything Matilda does.
Moira (my stepdaughter) is 12 and she loves the beach, cooking, and art.
Orla (my stepdaughter) is 10 and she loves Taylor Swift, singing, and reading.
How long have you been Stroller Striding/FIT4MOMming and how did you find us?
I joined in January 2023, so a little over 1 year. My friend in Dallas told me about this awesome stroller workout group she found so I did a google search and found you guys!
Share a favorite mom moment:
Matilda wasn’t the biggest fan of Matty when he was a baby, but I remember the first time they played together and it melted my heart. They were both giggling and she followed him around (crawling) as he crawled.
Share a challenging mom moment you've had:
Breastfeeding was a difficult journey with both my kids as they both had lip and tongue ties. Even after getting revisions, they were both inefficient feeders. I was so happy when I made it 6 months exclusively breastfeeding with Matty but then he stopped latching. I started exclusively pumping, but I didn't respond well to the pump, and I watched my milk supply dwindle. This happened during the peak of the COVID formula shortage. We had a very difficult time finding formula and was in a panic every week trying to find formula so that he wouldn’t go hungry.
Share a hidden talent!
I don’t know if this counts as a talent, but I like to do high altitude hiking. Before having kids, I hiked Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu, and led several charity hikes up 14ers in Colorado.
What did you do before kid/s?
I worked as a geologist for an oil and gas company.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I would love to live abroad so that I can give my kids similar experiences to my childhood.
What keeps you coming back to FIT4MOM?
I love the community! The outdoor workouts are fantastic, but it’s the friendships my kids and I have made that keeps us coming back.
Share 3 things you love to do other than FIT4MOMming :)
I love to travel, hike and cook.
Anything else you'd like to share?
I now work as a baby and toddler sleep consultant. After having a newborn, I became very passionate about sleep :) (MAMAS, LOOK HER UP!)
