Introduce yourself!
Hi – I’m Sophie, I am 35 and I moved to The Woodlands in October 2020. My husband had already been relocated here in 2018, and after several trips to visit him, I decided to pack up and join him and start married life in Texas.
Where were you born?
I was born in England in a city called Newcastle upon Tyne.
Where do you call home?
The Woodlands is now my home. Its where I have had my two boys and intend to stay here until they leave home and go to college. I have been so lucky with the friends I have made (thanks to FIT4MOM) and they are my Texas family now – although of course I miss my UK friends and family everyday!
Introduce your kiddo/s:
Oscar is 23 months and he is my wild child. Louis is 11 weeks and I am hoping he is going to be lovely and chilled.
How long have you been Stroller Striding/FIT4MOMming and how did you find us?
I have been with FIT4MOM since early 2021. I actually found you on Instagram when I was looking for ways to make friends when I moved here. I started off at the Prenatal Class and I am still going strong two years later!
Share a hidden talent!
It’s so hidden I do not even know what it is myself!
Share a favorite mom moment:
My favorite moment is at the end of the day when both boys are bathed and my husband and I give them their milk and read a book – it’s a true family moment that I am grateful for each evening.
Share a most challenging mom moment:
Every day is a challenge. I was not prepared to the mental load that came with motherhood but I am lucky that I get a lot of support at home and I have a great network of other mums around me to help when needed!
What did you do before kid/s?
I was a lawyer speaclising in Estate Planning and supporting people who had lost capacity – hopefully I can transfer my degree and do this in Texas too as I really enjoyed it.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In a beautiful home, with my beautiful family, fit and healthy, surrounded be people we love.
What keeps you coming back to FIT4MOM?
Honestly, the village. Had I not found FIT4MOM, I am not sure if I would have been as open to permentaly relocating to Texas. As an expat it can be really hard to move to a new place, especially a new Country with a completely different culture and to have met such an amazing group of women when I moved here who have helped me not only navigate through motherhood, but also a move is something that I will forever be grateful for.
Share 3 things you love to do other than FIT4MOMming :)
I love playing a sport called Netball. I am part of the organization team of the Woodlands Warriors Netball team and we are currently getting ready to head to nationals in New Orleans in November.
Other than that I love being around other people socialing (everyone loves a happy hour, right?!) and travelling – I cant wait to see more of America and what this Country has to offer.
What else would you like to share with the community?
Just a HUGE thank you for creating this network for us whilst keeping us fit.
